Party of Committees to Support Resistance―for Communism (Italy)
Dear Comrades,
We are in a situation of war and revolution in many ways similar to that of the first half of the last century. The world domination that the imperialist bourgeoisie has taken over again after the dissolution of the USSR and the socialist field has now resulted in the Third World War in pieces. It is a war that the imperialist bourgeoisie is compelled to widen and worsen, not out of malice, greed or incompetence, but because this is the only way to preserve at all costs in the world its domain in the political, economic, commercial, monetary and financial fields, which it’s now finding increasingly difficult to uphold. War is the only answer the bourgeoisie can give to the general crisis of its system, a crisis due to the absolute overproduction of capital, but one that affects all aspects of society.
In addition to the external war, the one that the US and EU imperialist groups carry out through intermediaries against the Russian Federation, the one of the rearmament plans of the EU imperialist countries, the genocide perpetrated by the Zionists in Palestine, the manoeuvres in the Pacific against the People’s Republic of China, the bombing by the Zionist state of Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran, that in a thousand forms strikes the countries that resist the raids of the imperialist groups, is matched by an internal war, the war that the ruling class also wages against the popular masses of the imperialist countries, made up of deaths at work, from ill-health, from treatable diseases, victims of the environmental crisis and pollution, victims of drug and alcohol abuse, of poverty and the material and moral degradation that is rampant.
War, external and internal, is a necessary birth of capitalism in crisis, and it cannot be ended definitively without overthrowing the capitalist system in at least some of the major imperialist countries, in other words without a leap of the socialist revolution.
As the imperialist bourgeoisie sinks us deeper and deeper into the maelstrom of the Third World War, a vast movement of resistance to the current course of things is also emerging and advancing: the front of countries opposing the incursions of the US, EU and Zionist imperialist groups is expanding, but so is the mobilisation of the popular masses of the imperialist countries themselves, who are less and less willing to be involved in the war plans of their governments, nor are they complicit in the genocide in Palestine.
It is therefore clear that the US, EU and Zionist imperialist groups are in trouble, they are suffering numerous defeats, this is shown for example by the fact that the US is being forced to retreat on the war front in Ukraine and even on its unconditional support for the genocide perpetrated by the Zionist state of Israel.
Young people are an important part of this resistance movement, they are in fact the most driven to mobilise in the face of a world falling apart, because objectively they suffer the effects of the crisis of capitalism on their skin more than other sections of the popular masses. Indeed, the youth of the popular masses in capitalist society have no prospects, they will not be able to achiev their dreams and aspirations, they are destined to be considered redundant, precarious, cannon fodder to be exploited in the dirty war of the capitalists. Too young to understand and decide their own future, but at the same time old enough to learn to obey; too young to be protagonists in society, but old enough to be exploited; too young to find decent work, but old enough to die on the job.
Spontaneously, young people therefore feel the need to rebel against the course of things, against the chaos into which the bourgeoisie drags them. They have shown all their strength by transforming anger into conquest with intifades in the universities, demonstrating their solidarity with the Palestinian people by fighting against the complicity of the universities with the Zionist state, by demanding the termination of research agreements with Israeli institutions and companies linked to them. In many Italian universities, students have gained the interruption of the agreements, concretely affecting the Zionists’ interests and economic ties in Italy. Much more than in the past, students have created a united movement among the various student organisations.
The only possible way out of the current Third World War is to direct the vast movement of opposition to the war, the war economy and the arms race, the elimination of the civilisation and welfare gains snatched away when the communist movement was strong, redundancies, unemployment and precariousness, the devastation and pollution of the earth and the climate crisis onto the path of socialist revolution.
The bourgeoisie tries everything to prevent this, resorting in our country to the militarisation of society (starting with schools), war propaganda and large-scale repression. But the more the ruling class pursues these “internal war” measures, the more it shows its own nature and helps to rid the masses of the illusions and “democratic” prejudices it propagandises and imposes. To avoid this at all costs, it will be more and more driven to promote reactionary mobilisation.
In our country, the shortest and least painful way forward on the road to socialism is that of a political break from below, the building of a front made up of a vast network of popular organisations, scattered throughout the country, as there are already so many, which supports the formation of a sovereign and popular government (as happened to some extent with the governments of the National Liberation Committee from 1943 to 1947), that breaks with our country’s subjugation to NATO and the EU, takes some emergency measures on the organisation of work, production and circulation of essential goods (thus starting with the preservation of the productive apparatus and monetary sovereignty), and establishes relations of solidarity and collaboration or exchange with all other countries willing to establish them with us.
The youth movement can make a valuable contribution in the construction of such a government, which is why as the CARC Party we think it is essential to promote the birth of student collectives in every school and university, to work to strengthen them, to push them to network and coordinate with workers’ and popular organisations. We see in these organisms today the embryos of the new power that in Russia were the soviets.
This is also why we don’t have a youth organisation, we are not against party youth organisations regardless, but we don’t think that building a youth organisation is the decisive aspect in our country today to advance towards socialism. We need to make young people protagonists of the political struggle, of the implementation of this line. That is why it is not necessary to create a youth organisation, but to value, support and strengthen the many youth organisations, including the youth organisations of the parties and organisations of the communist movement, directing them in the struggle to impose a popular emergency government. We need to push students to organise themselves in their own schools and universities, to form youth organisations that identify and impose solutions to the problems they experience from below. Push them to “make a school of communism,” that is make them understand that beyond the individual struggle they must learn to take care of their own school and get out of it, become a point of reference inside and outside, by linking themselves, for example, to the struggles of the working class, they must learn to act as new authorities, contend the exercise of power to the bourgeois authorities.
In this way, it will also be possible to bring the prospect of socialism to young people, binding them to the communist movement and thus contributing to its rebirth. This is the brightest prospect for young proletarians, the only one that allows them to play a positive role in society and thus realise their aspirations and positively deploy all their energies. It is up to us communists to transform the just anger and rebellion of the youth into organisation and redemption, to channel it into constructive and revolutionary mobilisation. If we are equal to the tasks that the developing revolutionary situation sets us, our work will make the seed of revolution sprout in an ever-increasing number of young people, drying up the nettle of bourgeois influence. The youth express in the highest and most courageous form the dreams and aspirations of the rest of the popular masses, they embody the spirit of the new society. Let them be the protagonists of its construction!
