In recent days, we have witnessed a series of international events that, unfortunately, we can consider historic due to the brutality of imperialism as a system. We are, of course, referring to the attacks perpetrated by Israel against Iran, as well as the ongoing ethnic cleansing being suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza.
While all this is happening in the Middle East, the war of aggression by the United States and its allies against the Russian Federation continues for yet another year, using Ukraine as a battering ram.
All this contrasts with the deteriorating living conditions of the popular classes in Europe. What is interesting is that, if at one point imperialism—as a predatory system—tried to sustain capitalism by constructing an illusion of prosperity in the West, that illusion is now disappearing. It can no longer be upheld except through many wars, critical moments, civilian assassinations, and even the bombing of hospitals perpetrated by the allies of Western imperialism.
For all these reasons, we see a path ahead with only two possible directions: either we choose a model based on misery and predation, against the prosperity of the vast majority of humanity, or we choose a model based on mutual cooperation, respect for national sovereignty, and the collective construction of prosperity.
This is the model we advocate for—the one that motivates and sustains us. That is why, even though we regret not being physically present with you, we want to send this message to express our solidarity and firm internationalist commitment.
