Cuba waged a long anti-colonial struggle while it was still a Spanish colony.
The United States intervened against Spain in 1898 (the Maine incident), marking the beginning of its imperialist domination, which would later extend to many other countries around the world. It was through this historical event that U.S. intervention in Cuba began.
Until the triumph of the Revolution in 1959, the United States government supported and effectively controlled the government of Fulgencio Batista in accordance with its own interests.
In 1961, when it became clear that the Revolution had chosen the path of independence from the United States and rejected foreign interference, the U.S. empire severed diplomatic relations with Cuba.
It then organized the invasion of the Bay of Pigs (Playa Girón). This invasion was defeated by the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, which responded with remarkable speed, crossing marshland to reach the landing site.
It was at this moment that Fidel Castro Ruz proclaimed the socialist character of the Cuban Revolution.
Following this defeat of U.S. imperialism and the Cuban counterrevolutionaries, a series of covert operations was launched, including acts of sabotage, attempts at destabilization, and plans such as Operation Mongoose.
The Revolution withstood these attacks, prompting the United States to adopt other forms of pressure against the island.
Embargo or Economic Blockade
In 1962, the United States imposed a harsh economic blockade that has become increasingly severe over the years. At the present time, it has become unsustainable, as it affects the health and lives of all Cubans living on the island.
From the very beginning of the blockade, the Cuban government maintained that it seriously hindered the country’s development. The United States, however, has argued that it is a tool of political pressure against the Cuban government.
The Current Situation
In recent years, especially since the Zionist pedophile Donald Trump returned to the White House, all forms of pressure against Cuba have intensified.
Cuba remains on the United States’ list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
The economic embargo continues, along with many of the sanctions imposed by previous U.S. administrations.
Financial and trade restrictions continue to block access to credit, investment, and certain international markets.
The latest and most serious measure is a total blockade designed to prevent any country from supplying oil to Cuba.
As a result of this measure, the island is left without sufficient energy for all sectors of society, including healthcare, leading to the deaths of children, the elderly, and other members of the population. This measure has a name: genocide.
In summary, these measures constitute a policy of imperialist interference that has continued for more than six decades.
