Solidarity Against Terrorism and Its Manifestations: The Role of Progressive Forces

Philippine Communist Party (PKP-1930)

Comrades, workers, youth, and defenders of peace and democracy,

We gather today in a world shaken by wars, fascist aggression, imperialist intervention, political repression, poverty, and terrorism that continue to threaten the lives and future of the peoples of the world.

From the devastated communities of Palestine, to the conflict zones of Africa and Asia, to the militarized communities of the Philippines and Latin America, millions of ordinary people continue to suffer from violence, displacement, hunger, exploitation, and fear.

But as progressive and class-conscious forces, we declare clearly:

The struggle against terrorism cannot be separated from the struggle against imperialism, fascism, exploitation, and social injustice.

Terrorism does not emerge in a vacuum.

It grows in societies poisoned by:

• extreme poverty;

• landlessness;

• unemployment;

• racism and discrimination;

• imperialist wars;

• political repression;

• and the denial of people’s democratic rights.

For decades, powerful imperialist states have used the language of the “war on terror” to justify military intervention, occupation, economic sanctions, political domination, and attacks against progressive and democratic movements.

Under the banner of “security,” entire nations have been bombed. Communities have been militarized. Workers, activists, journalists, and organizers have been silenced, imprisoned, red-tagged, or killed.

In the Philippines, we have witnessed how anti-terror campaigns are often used against labor unions, peasant organizations, indigenous communities, youth activists, and progressive movements struggling for land, wages, education, and democratic rights.

But let us be clear:

•To organize workers is not terrorism.

•To defend the poor is not terrorism.

•To struggle for national sovereignty and social justice is not terrorism.

The real terrorists are those who profit from war, exploitation, hunger, and repression.

The real enemies of peace are systems that enrich a few while millions suffer from poverty and hopelessness.

Comrades,

The experiences of Cuba and Venezuela show us the importance of resistance and international solidarity.

Despite sanctions, destabilization campaigns, and external aggression, the Cuban people defended their sovereignty through social unity, education, healthcare, and internationalist solidarity.

Cuban doctors traveled across the world—not with bombs, but with medicine and humanitarian service.

Venezuela, despite economic sabotage and political destabilization, continues to assert its right to self-determination against imperialist pressure.

These experiences teach us that genuine security is not built through militarism and domination, but through people’s unity, social justice, and collective struggle.

Progressive forces therefore carry a historic responsibility.

We must:

• organize the workers, peasants, youth, women, and oppressed sectors;

• expose imperialist aggression and fascist repression;

• defend democratic rights and human rights;

• strengthen anti-war and anti-fascist solidarity;

• and advance the struggle for a just and humane social order.

The struggle against terrorism must also be a struggle against:

• exploitation;

• monopoly capitalism;

• militarization;

• racism;

• and all forms of oppression that create violence and despair.

Because as long as millions remain hungry while a few monopolize wealth and power, instability and conflict will continue.

As long as imperialist wars destroy nations for profit and geopolitical control, terrorism and violence will persist.

As long as fascist repression crushes democratic movements, genuine peace will remain impossible.

That is why progressive forces must build a broad international front of solidarity among workers and peoples.

A solidarity that crosses borders.

A solidarity that rejects war and fascism.

A solidarity that fights for peace based on justice, equality, and national sovereignty.

Comrades and friends,

The future belongs not to the forces of hatred and repression, but to the organized strength of the people.

Let us unite against terrorism and all its manifestations.

Let us unite against imperialist aggression and fascist repression.

Let us unite for peace, democracy, socialism, and social justice.

Because the liberation of humanity will never come from bombs, militarization, or fear.

It will come from the collective struggle of workers and oppressed peoples united across the world.

Thank you.

Long live international solidarity!

Long live the workers and oppressed peoples of the world!

Down with imperialism, fascism, and terrorism!

Advance the struggle for peace, democracy, and social justice!
